Shanghai business delegation attracts delegates after China-UK Bridge event
SUPPORT among Merseyside firms for a Shanghai trade delegation is growing after the latest presentation by China-UK Bridge.
The Liverpool Innovation Park- based firm was established in 2005 and provides advice and expertise on all aspects of establishing trading links in China.
Headed by Shanghai-born Cathy Yu, the organisation has arranged a visit to Shanghai this September for companies keen to break into the booming Chinese economy.
An all-day event, supported by Liverpool city council, at the Devonshire Hotel offered an insight into the cultural and business aspects of conducting trade in China.
Ms Yu said seven firms signed up to the September delegation, bringing the total so far to 20.
“They included people in import and export, the creative industries, IT and also the food supply industry.”
The presentation followed a similar event arranged last September. Ms Yu added: “This year we presented cultural events to help people understand trading opportunities in Shanghai better and to encourage local businesses to visit Shanghai.”
The September mission will include a tour of the Liverpool Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo which runs until October, she said.
China-UK Bridge also recently won a contract with regeneration agency Liverpool Vision for services supporting businesses going to Shanghai.
